Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from the family members, she was grew up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a little girl, she struggled with an obsessional disorder and suffered from anxiety due to the word association. Ford became attracted to acting in her teenage years and joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after just one week she realized that she didn't fit in. Ford decided to apply instead for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and finally won a position on her fourth try. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring in Doctor Who. Ford completed her degree in 1993 however in the meantime, she had already made her debut on television in a 1991 episode from Surgical Spirit; she adopted the professional name "Catherine Tate". Tate made her television debut in 1991and appeared in shows such as The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. and London's Burning. Her regular work in theatre brought her into The Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 season. But Tate quickly began gaining notice for her stand-up comedy that she incorporated into her repertoire in 1996.
